Literature Text

If you can’t cradle me like a down comforter in wintertime
Or a newly sprung daisy
If you can’t love me as hard as the horizon loves the mountaintop-
Never letting frosty fingers leave his woman’s skin
If I can’t drag you like a magnet
Only at peace between my arms
Pulling a current around our shoulders to warm an unsure heart beat
If you don’t need the way I do, from a part of myself that is scared of daylight
Only hiding in the dips and curves of your shoulders
Then I don’t know how to love you
